Epilogue

When we finally got home Sunday night, I took a shower and immediately went to bed. The next morning, believe it or not, I woke refreshed and I felt amazing. I had blisters on my feet so I wore my Uggs slippers to work for a week and I had a little shin pain the first 48 hours but I worked a full week, I did 3 loads of laundry after work on Monday and Tuesday I walked the garbage cans to the curb and walked up to get the mail then came in and made dinner. I am amazed at how quickly my body recovered.

I wish I could find the words to share my journey with you. This blog has been my attempt but I know it can only convey my feelings in a small part. I’ve never been a part of something like this and I was blown away by it. It was, indeed, an incredible journey.

I learned so much about myself in those 3 days. I learned that I have an inner strength that can even keep me going when my body gives out. I learned that I have an amazing family and friends who were with me every step of the way. I learned that I am athletic, despite what I believed when I was growing up. I learned that I can make a difference in this world.

Thank you for all of you for your generous donations. They enabled me to be able to participate in this amazing event but more importantly each and every one of you has played a part in saving the lives of millions of women. Thank you for your messages of encouragement. They helped me to know that I’m was not alone on my journey and they gave me strength. Thank you to Dave and Aaron for all they did to make it possible for me to walk.

It was a most incredible experience. One that I plan to repeat next year. I’m already signed up to walk in San Francisco in 2010.

And another journey begins.
