Cheers and tears

The Closing ceremony always gets to me, to a lot of people. The speeches are great. All of the emotion of the weekend comes together all at once.

The Survivors Circle, fellow walkers and crew who have fought or are fighting breast cancer

The Walkers and Crew salute the Survivors. What’s really awesome is that, during this moment, for the most part the Walkers themselves are silent and the only voice is that of the speaker, ringing out over the crowd as we lift a shoe in silent salute to the men and women whose courage and strength inspire us and move us

And then the Survivors raise the flag. “A World Without Breast Cancer”.

More tears.

This year was especially hard for me, because of Aunt Brenda’s passing. By the time I found Dave and Aaron, I was pretty emotional. So very thankful to both of them for all they do that weekend and all year that makes it possible for me to Walk.
